Understanding the User

Understanding the User

The research aimed at answering some specific question and needs of cultural event planners, that will be later helpful for the redesign of the interface. To set out clear goals, the following questions were set in my mind:

  1. How to facilitate communication with organizers, sponsors, and media?

  2. How to gather feedback and measure the effectiveness of promotions?

We conducted a qualitative analysis by interviewing four individuals who work as event promoters and planners within Italian municipalities. These professionals operate in diverse settings, ranging from small town halls in cities with 6,000 inhabitants to larger municipalities that regularly host multi-day festivals. From their insights we were able to identify costumer journey maps, user personas, needs and pain points.

For the rest of the design process, based on the insights, our focus shifted towards one of the three identified personas, known as 'the planner' - the person responsible for finding sponsors, stakeholders, and all parties involved in the event. This individual must plan the event, stay on top of every detail to ensure everything goes smoothly, and manage finances effectively.

User Pain Points

  1. Coordination with Multiple Stakeholders: Events require the involvement of different and multiple stakeholders, this can take time due to lenghty administrative procedures.

Architecture of Information

Events involve numerous tasks spanning various domains (e.g., sponsorship, logistics, catering, marketing). To streamline planning, the architecture categorizes four main domains: events, stakeholders, the creation of a new event, and your profile.
